The Clipstone Miner

Five months in the drawing & making.

All constructed from scrap steel rescued from the colliery, including treadplate, nuts, bolts, washers, hasps, valve wheels & lots of steelplate.

His right foot rests on a pit wheel donated by Pleasley Pit.

He was commissioned to celebrate 100 years of Clipstone Colliery and to commemorate the 57 miners that died during the pits life 1922-2003. The youngest of those miners was 15 yrs old and died on his first shift. :(
