A lovely commission to restore a WW1 memorial that was very sadly vandalised in the 1970s. Originally carved in Italy from Carrara marble, I had to source and have shipped over some matching stone from the same quarries. The following pictures hopefully tell the tale of 12 months research and 3 months carving.

This restoration was made possible by the ex-Church Warden Maurice Stokes, whose ever-positive attitude and determination brought the whole community together enabling a huge fundraising effort. He sadly died a year later and I have carved a dedication to him, which is placed behind the memorial.
